Mental disorders and suicidality among Opioid Agonist Treatment service users in Nepal: A cross sectional study

High lifetime prevalence of major mental disorders and suicidality are common among Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) service users impact on the outcomes OAT programs. Despite known detrimental effects across personal, social economic aspects life these associations implications remain under-studied in resource poor settings. The aim this study was to identify Kathmandu valley explore factors associated with depressive disorder. A cross-sectional conducted 231 participants from five centers valley. Participants were administered a semi-structured questionnaire, Nepalese version Kessler 6 Psychological Distress Scale (K6), Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.) 7.0.2. Bivariate multivariate analyses employed between disorder socio-demographic variables, other disorders, substance use related variables. Among users, 16.5% reported history one four had Kessler-6 psychological distress score ?13 within last weeks. Using M.I.N.I observed 26.0% 24.2%.
